No Harm In Asking

Looks like it’s been confirmed: The Hobbit will be split into two films. Any confirmation of casting choices? Does anyone know?

Sigh…Tolkien’s Heirs Want Production of ‘The Hobbit’ Film Stopped.

Waiting For Frodo & Waiting For Bilbo

Apologies for not finishing the re-posting of Waiting For Frodo. I’m just finding that having to reformat and rename everything for the ComicPress template is too much of a hassle.

I’m going to switch to a new theme and just re-post in batches. I’d better do it soon, too, since it sounds as if the final casting of The Hobbit is going to be announced soon, which means it’ll be time to ramp up Waiting For Bilbo!

Movie by fans, for fans

Thanks to Julie Duffy for pointing me to this article about The Hunt for Gollum, a movie which premieres this weekend at the Sci-Fi-London film festival on Sunday. It will also available free-to-view online…if anyone knows the URL, please post it – thanks!

Waiting For Frodo…again

I’ve been moving many of my sites to a new server as well as converting them to Wordpress. Happily, Waiting For Bilbo is already on the new server.

However, I’ll have to convert each of the strips in Waiting For Frodo as well as uploading them to the new server, then posting them via a new Wordpress blog. To make this less tedious for me, I’ve decided to re-post one strip a day.

Unfortunately I was unable to move the comments. However, I will be posting extra commentary with each strip as I re-post it, mainly trivia about what inspired various strips and characters. Feel free to comment. :-)

When I’ve finished uploading all the Waiting For Frodo strips, then I’ll start updating Waiting For Bilbo.

Sean Astin at Fan Expo 2008

Sean Astin at Fan Expo 2008

Woohoo, I saw Sean Astin live for the first time! I attended Fan Expo this year, and Sean gave an entertaining and informative Q&A; I was lucky enough to snag a seat in the front row. I waited an hour in line, chatting with Kristen:

Kristen

Sean said he doesn’t know anything about The Hobbit movies other than what’s already been published. He says he’d love to be in the movie. He does say that the Gaffer would be a possible role but that he’d understand if the director preferred to ask someone who was already older (and didn’t need makeup to make him look older).

Sean has apparently bought the movie options for Lois Lowry’s book, “The Giver.” I loved this book, so am excited!

Thanks! (and a new WFB Facebook page)

WFB logoThanks so much for the great response in the comments board and in e-mail, everyone! It’s much appreciated. :-)

It looks as if Waiting For Bilbo is also going to be translated into Portuguese and Spanish, which I’m pretty excited about. More details soon.

Also, I’ve just created a Facebook page for Waiting For Bilbo so if you’re on Facebook, feel free to become a Fan. I’ll be posting strip updates to this page as well as some fun info, sketches of possible new characters, etc.

Feel free to add me as a Friend, but when you send your Facebook request please make sure you mention Waiting For Bilbo — I tend to ignore Friend requests of people with whom I have absolutely zero connection.

About page updated

I’ve updated my About page with a bit of history of Waiting For Frodo as well as how Waiting For Bilbo got started, for those interested.

Pardon the construction dust…

Hokay, I figure it’s about time I start work on setting up this comic. The appearance of this page is likely to undergo many radical (and possibly horrifying) changes over the next while. Thanks for your patience during this launch process!
